The Ogun State Police Command has made significant progress in its fight against crime by apprehending two individuals suspected of theft. In separate incidents, law enforcement officials were able to recover a variety of stolen items linked to these suspects. The police are continuing their investigation to find new details surrounding these thefts and to establish if other individuals may be involved. This operation highlights the dedication of the Ogun State Police to ensuring public safety and reducing criminal activities in the community.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, stated on Tuesday that personnel from the Idanyin Division detained one Sadiq Adebayo for allegedly removing burglary protections from an uncompleted structure in the Imutu Ayanre community. The chairman of the Imutu Ayanre community, Yekinni Wasiu, alerted the police on December 29, 2024, indicating that Adebayo was discovered dismantling the burglary proof from a neighbor’s unfinished building.
During the investigation, Adebayo admitted to having stolen similar items on several occasions, which he sold to Abdullahi Sulaimon, a scrap dealer. “Following the report, our detectives visited the crime scene, documented the incident with photographs, and recovered several of the stolen burglary proofs. The alleged receiver, Abdullahi Sulaimon, has also been taken into custody and is currently under investigation,” stated Odutola.
In a related incident on the same day, a community member identified as Seun raised an alarm upon seeing Adekoya Odunowo with a sack containing electric wires suspected to be stolen. Further inquiries revealed that Odunowo had taken six weight moulders used in block molding machinery from three local block industries owned by Adebayo Ahmed, Gbolahan Clinton, Adeniyi Salusi, and Hassan Lukman, all situated along the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye expressway. The stolen equipment, valued at N150,000 each, was reportedly sold to a scrap dealer, Rabiu Ismaila, in Idode, Ago-Iwoye.
Both Odunowo and Ismaila have been arrested, and the stolen weight moulders have been recovered. The PPRO affirmed the police’s commitment to prosecuting the suspects, stating, “The suspects will be arraigned as soon as the investigation is concluded. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
