The Police command in Akwa Ibom have arrested six individuals suspected of kidnapping in the Eket Local government area of the state.
This was announced by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, in a statement on Thursday from Uyo. John noted that after receiving credible information about a planned kidnapping of key figures in Eket, the police executed a successful operation that resulted in the arrest of the six suspects.
The operation commenced on Tuesday with the apprehension of a man named Joseph Alafia in Oron Town which led to raids on two other locations in Eket where more suspects were arrested.
During these operations, the police seized five mobile phones and a Lexus RX 300 vehicle, registered under the license plate KMR 491 AE, which is suspected to have been utilized in the kidnappings. The individuals in custody are believed to be linked to recent kidnapping cases in Eket and are presently undergoing questioning. The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, praised the vigilance and swift efforts of the officers involved in these operations.
Azare reaffirms the command’s unwavering dedication to upholding law and order, ensuring the safety and security of every resident in Akwa Ibom.
