A student from Delta State Polytechnic named Egwono has been found dead in a hotel; she was only in her early twenties. Egwono was from Owakwa village in the Ughelli South area. Unfortunately, she was found dead in a hotel room under strange circumstances.
There has been a lot of talk on social media claiming that she had been beheaded, but a spokesperson from the Delta State Ministry of Information has cleared up this false information. They confirmed that Egwono had actually been stabbed. The official said, “She was not beheaded as some have thought. That report is not true. She was found with a stab wound.”
Residents who talked to reporters described the event as both heartbreaking and shocking. “She should be around twenty or twenty-one years old. It’s really painful to see such a bright future end like this. We just hope that those who are responsible are caught and punished,” one resident said, with a sad expression on their face.
Another individual recounted the events leading up to the tragedy. The man, who had spent some time with her after her arrival, returned home to the same neighborhood. “We heard that when he returned the next morning to check on her, he found her lying there without life in a pool of blood, with a stab wound on her neck,” they said in disbelief.
A witness shared a chilling detail about the incident, revealing that the hotel receptionist ran away in fear after the owner discovered a terrible scene. This unsettling information has only added to the community’s worry, leaving many feeling anxious and disturbed by what occurred.
Lukman Olaogun, the head of the Koko Division police, confirmed that an investigation is currently taking place. “We are looking into the matter and promise that justice will be served soon,” he assured.
As of the latest updates, the young woman’s body has been taken to the mortuary at Koko General Hospital, while detectives work hard to find out who is responsible for this crime. Residents of the Koko community are urging the Delta State Police and other authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and quickly bring those accountable to justice.
