Ramadan: Etsu Nupe urges Muslims to intensify prayers against insecurity

Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger Council of Traditional Rulers, has called upon Muslims to deepen their prayers during the sacred month of Ramadan, advocating for the restoration of lasting peace in Nigeria. He emphasized that prayer is the most potent tool to confront any adversity. The Etsu Nupe conveyed this message in a statement released on Saturday by the Palace Secretary, Malan Abdulmalik Usman, Rani Nupe, coinciding with the commencement of the 1446 A.H. (2025) Ramadan fast.

Abubakar said that the prevailing security challenges, such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping, can be mitigated through the unwavering and fervent prayers of the Muslim community during this sacred month. He elaborated that through prayer, divine intervention may yield resolutions to the existing socio-challenges and security issues confronting the nation.

The Etsu Nupe highlighted that Ramadan is an opportune time to beseech Almighty God for sustainable resolutions to the numerous issues afflicting the country. He urged Muslims within his jurisdiction and across the nation to utilize this holy month to pray earnestly for peaceful coexistence, stability, and the advancement of Bida Emirate, Niger, and Nigeria as a whole. “

Etsu Nupe said that prayers during this sacred period will assist our leaders and security personnel in overcoming the nefarious acts troubling our nation,” he stated. Furthermore, he cautioned Islamic preachers against making inflammatory remarks that could incite public unrest. “Religious teachings during this time should focus on fostering harmonious relationships among the populace, and nothing should be done to sow division, Etsu gave this advise during his remarks

Abubakar underscored the importance of promoting unity and cooperation among individuals to enhance peace, harmony, and progress within every community. He encouraged clerics to serve as exemplary figures in their words and actions at all times.

He urged wealthy Nigerians to always assist the underprivileged members of society by offering them food and financial assistance to ease their difficulties. “Individuals should utilize their divinely bestowed wealth to aid the poor and widows. This gesture will significantly alleviate their hardships during this sacred month of Ramadan.”
