Ronald Araújo signs a new contract that will keep him at Barcelona until 2031

Ronald Araújo has put an end to any uncertainty regarding his future by signing a new deal with Barcelona that will keep him with the Catalan team until 2031.
This month, Juventus and other teams expressed interest in the 25-year-old, whose previous deal was set to end in 2026.

But he was persuaded to stay after a recent discussion with Deco, the sporting director.

Araújo signed his new contract at the club’s offices on Thursday as sporting director Deco, president Joan Laporta, and vice president Rafa Yuste were all present.
After missing the first half of the season due to a hamstring injury, the defender has just returned.

Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez formed a partnership in the center of Barça’s back four during that period.
Araujo, however, has started four of Barça’s last six games after Martínez’s untimely injury allowed him to return to the team.
After playing for the club’s reserve team for a while, Araújo joined Barça from struggling Uruguayan team Boston River in 2018. He has since made over 150 appearances for the team, helping them win the La Liga championship in 2022–2023.
