Atsi Kefas, younger sister of Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, who sustained bullet wounds from accidental discharge from the gun of one of the security personnel on the convoy of Mrs. Jummai Kefas, mother of the Governor along Wukari-Kente road on December 5, has died.
A family source disclosed this in Jalingo on Tuesday that Atsi, 44 years, died in a private hospital in Abuja while receiving treatment for her injuries in the early hours of Tuesday.
Recall that unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Thursday last week attacked a vehicle in which Jummai Kefas, was travelling along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area of the state during when one of the security personnel in the vehicle and attempted to return fire to the gunmen accidentally shot Atsi who was seated next to the governor’s mother.
Investigation revealed that the suspected kidnappers had targeted Governor Kefas’ mother for kidnap when they attacked the convoy.
Atsi was initially rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari where her condition was stabilized before she was flown to Abuja for further treatment.
The source, further stated that doctors have been battling to save Atsi’s live in a private hospital in Abuja since Thursday last week before she finally died.
As at the time of filing the report, there has not been any official statement from the state government concerning the death of the Governor’s sister.

In a statement the former PDP National Women Leader, Hon. Tina Musa described the death of Atsi Kefas as great lost to the state.

“Atsi, an amazing sister! A goal- getter. A quintessential and passionate change agent. Men felt dwarfed in insights, wisdom, ruggedness, positivity, optimism, diligence, when standing beside this amazon. A strong lover of Christ.
“Losing you so early is profoundly painful. I had long looked up to continuing having you as a worthy sister.
“A paragon of love and integrity. You were prudent, yet generous, munificent and charitable to a fault. You were an embodiment of kindness. You came, you saw and you conquered! Death is not the end for you but a passage to a more glorious home.
“As you triumphantly join the saints beyond, continue to rest in peace in the bosom of your Lord Jesus, who you wholeheartedly served while on this earth.
“May God console your ever-supportive and loving elder brother and my boss, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Executive Governor of Taraba State and the entire family left behind.
“Our family, especially the Kefas will miss you. Your memory lingers on my very dear supportive sister. Adieu – the statement added.
