Segun Olowookere, an Osun State resident who was sentenced to death by hanging in 2010 for stealing a fowl and eggs, has met with Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke following his swift intervention.
In a recent statement issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, it was highlighted that the governor has ordered an urgent investigation into the case of Segun. He has also urged for a quick decision to grant pardon concerning this matter. This announcement comes just a few days after the directive was given, showcasing the governor’s commitment to addressing the situation swiftly and fairly.
The Governor ordered that the Attorney General not only intervenes but also ensure the young man is listed for prerogative of mercy before the end of the year.
This is after Olowookere’s case went viral after an interview by actress Biola Adebayo in which his parents alleged wrongful arrest and police extortion.
