This expression of sympathy was conveyed through an official statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, in Abuja on Sunday.

President Tinubu described Mrs. Agbaje as an extraordinary teacher, community leader, and former head of the Catholic Women Organization for the Lagos region. He stated that he stands with the many friends, family members, and students she influenced during her life as they mourn her loss.

Throughout her impressive career, Mrs. Agbaje made significant contributions to education. She taught math at Holy Child College in Lagos from 1953 to 1959, worked at St. Joseph’s Teacher Training College in Surulere from 1960 to 1971, and then became the Headmistress of St. Catherine’s Model School in Surulere from 1971 to 1982.

The President noted that her impact on her students was both meaningful and lasting. He praised her dedication to education and how she helped build the nation, referring to her as a guiding light in teaching and discipline. He celebrated the legacy she left behind, which continues to inspire her children and many others who have found success thanks to her mentorship.

“Mama Agbaje’s life was full of kindness, humility, and a strong commitment to education. For her students, her greatest joy was watching them succeed,” said the President. He also acknowledged Mrs. Agbaje’s important role in the Catholic community, where she excelled as the President of the CWO and held various leadership positions in church organizations.

Tinubu encouraged the Agbaje family and all who are grieving to seek comfort in their faith and in the positive impact Mrs. Agbaje had on many lives. He offered prayers for her peaceful rest.
