Truck Crushes Taraba State University Graduate in Her Shop

A devastating accident has claimed the life of a young entrepreneur and Taraba State University graduate, Cynthia Jonathan, after a truck lost control and crashed into the bustling Mile 6 Market in Jalingo on Friday, June 27.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fully loaded sand truck suffered a tyre burst while traveling at high speed, resulting in the driver losing control. The vehicle veered off the main road and collided with the crowded marketplace, causing panic among traders and shoppers.
Cynthia, who had completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) two years earlier, was reportedly inside her shop managing her Point-of-Sale (POS) business when the truck crashed through, tragically hitting her.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community in mourning, as market traders and residents gathered in shock at the scene.
She was laid to rest on Saturday, June 28, amid tears from family, friends, and fellow traders.

The authorities are investigating the situation, but they haven’t confirmed what led to the accident yet. They also haven’t put the truck driver in jail. They are committed to thoroughly examining what caused this tragic event. According to report, they have not yet verified if the truck driver has been apprehended.

To prevent future accidents, the state government must ensure that road safety regulations are followed and monitor the operation of large vehicles in congested areas.
