We tried, but it’s not working’ – Peter on why P-Square split

Table of Content

Nigerian artist Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, has shared his experience regarding the split from his twin brother and musical partner, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy). This marks yet another chapter in the remarkable journey of the iconic P-Square duo.

In a recent chat on Cool FM Lagos, Mr P shared that even though they tried to stick together, it wasn’t working for the duo anymore. He talked about how excited he was with his solo career and asked fans to understand their choice. He said, “There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working,” suggesting that they could not withstand underlying challenges.

It’s important to remember that P-Square first separated in 2016 due to various family and management disputes, only to reunite in 2021, much to the joy of fans worldwide. Their comeback included new music and joint performances, sparking hopes that the legendary duo had turned a new leaf.

However, cracks resurfaced, and in August 2023, Paul Okoye confirmed that the group had once again ended their partnership. While fans remained hopeful for another reconciliation, Peter’s recent comments suggest that this separation might truly be final.
