The lifeless body of a woman identified as Goodness Edem Israel has been found in a drainage ditch along Udok Street, near Barracks Road, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

This disturbing discovery was made in the early hours of Thursday by both passersby and local residents.

The details surrounding her death are still unclear. Apart from the foam coming from her nostrils, there were no indications to determine if she had been shot or attacked with a machete by her assailants. Some resident of the area, who preferred to remain anonymous, said that the woman might have been murdered elsewhere and thrown inside the gutter by her attackers, as there had been no reports of gunfire or violence in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John has confirmed the incident.

She said that the identity of the deceased was confirmed through her National Identification Number (NIN), which was found next to her body, adding that the Command has started investigation into the matter.

“The name on the NIN found reads ‘Goodness Edem Israel’. The investigation is ongoing, and I will provide updates as they become available,” the police spokesperson said.
