FG disburses N11.5bn to 178,342 vulnerable Jigawa residents

The Federal Government has disbursed N11.5 billion to 178,342 families in Jigawa through its social safety net program.

During a Saturday meeting in Dutse, Mr Sagir Musa, Jigawa’s Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, shared these updates while reviewing how well President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s programs are working.

According to Musa, the Tinubu government has paid out N11.58 billion to 178,342 people under the Renewed Hope Social Protection Scheme.

Musa also noted that Jigawa residents have received help from other Tinubu administration programs, such as the Ramadan Rice Palliative, NG-CARES, and the National Community Food Bank project.

The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), he explained, has started different programs including opening the Sen. Oluremi Tinubu Clinic in Hadejia and the National Community Food Bank—both meant to reduce hunger and improve family healthcare services.

“These programs aim to make healthcare easier to reach and fill nutrition gaps, with special attention to poor communities,” he said.

Musa highlighted how the state has really benefited from solid federal government support across tons of different areas, thanks to rolling out some game-changing infrastructure, farming, education, digital skills, and people development programs.
He called attention to some major projects like the Greater Dutse Water Supply project, road fixing work, and farming and education initiatives.
According to the commissioner, the water project was meant to make sure about 1.5 million people in Dutse and the surrounding areas would have reliable water access.
Musa went on to explain that the program includes putting in 35 industrial boreholes, building a modern water treatment facility, and setting up a 56.6-kilometre pipeline system.
“The federal government is also working on the Kano–Katsina–Maradi railway project, which has the Kano–Dutse railway stations as part of it, and they’re aiming to finish by December 2027.
“This railway project should help move things around faster, make it easier for people and goods to get where they need to go, and help the economy grow in all the states involved,” he said.

Musa praised the Tinubu administration for launching the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), pointing out how it has changed education for the better. He shared that the program gave out more than N195 million to 6,279 students at Sule Lamido University Kafinhausa in the 2025/2026 school year. The program also sent more than N867 million to 7,738 students at Federal University Dutse (FUD).

Musa said that the Tinubu administration has expanded digital literacy via the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Future Academy, Hadejia,

The school was inaugurated in 2026 through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Musa said this project aims to give young people in the state better access to digital knowledge and tech opportunities.

“Young people in Jigawa have taken part in the federal government’s 3-Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program. They have learned useful digital skills training and opportunities,” he said.

Mr Yusuf Nabhani, Controller, Federal Ministry of Works, Jigawa Field Office, said that the Tinubu administration has embarked on rehabilitation and realignment of two highway projects, which reached about 82 per cent and 36 per cent completion stages, respectively.
He said that the rehabilitation of the 47.51km Kunya – Kanya – Babura – Baban Mutum Road was awarded to CRCC Construction Company Nigeria Ltd. at the cost of over N48 billion.
Nabhani said that a project assessment report indicated that 34.78km of the road had been completed.
He said that works on Kano – Birninkudu – Bauchi Road, including five bridges, have stopped due to nonpayment of certified works.
The coordinator said that road interventions continued along major corridors linking Jigawa with Kano, Bauchi, Yobe and Borno.
“The Gaya – Dutse – Azare, along Kano – Maiduguri corridors are strategic routes for commerce and regional connectivity, while interventions have also continued on the Bauchi – Jigawa Road.”
