Israeli forces detained and interrogated medical personnel after forcing the evacuation of northern Gaza’s last major hospital, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, was among those held for questioning by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who accused him of “being a Hamas terrorist operative” without presenting evidence.

According to the health ministry, Israeli airstrikes targeted the area around the hospital on Friday, killing an estimated 50 people, including medical workers.
According to the IDF, the hospital was a “Hamas terrorist stronghold” and it had conducted an operation there.

The World Health Organization (WHO) claimed that 15 critical patients, 50 caregivers, and 20 health professionals were moved to a nearby Indonesian hospital.
The WHO said it was “appalled by yesterday’s raid” on the hospital, which means the area’s last major health facility is now out of service.

The head of Kamal Adwan’s nursing department, Eid Sabbah, informed the military that they had ordered the evacuation at around 7:00 on Friday, which would give the hospital roughly fifteen minutes to relocate staff and patients into the courtyard.
According to him, Israeli troops then went into the hospital and took out the remaining patients.
It had “facilitated the secure evacuation of civilians, patients and medical personnel” before to the operation, according to the IDF.

Israel has been enforcing a tighter blockade on portions of northern Gaza since October, including the city of Beit Lahia, where the hospital is situated.
According to the UN, the region has been under “near-total siege” as the Israeli military severely limits relief deliveries to an area that is thought to still be home to 10,000–15,000 people.
In recent days, the hospital’s management have made fervent requests to be safeguarded, claiming that Israeli bombardment and explosives have started to regularly target the facility.

However, intelligence revealed that “terrorists” were utilizing the Kamal Adwan Hospital as a command point for their military operations in Jabalia, according to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli Security Agency (ISA).
The IDF stated in a statement on Saturday that it had captured 240 fighters.
According to the report, firearms were discovered and seized near the hospital, and IDF personnel were attacked during the operation.

It further stated that Dr. Abu Safiya was among the medical personnel detained and is “suspected of being a Hamas terrorist operative, as well as Hamas engineering and anti-tank missile operatives.”
Hamas has asked the United Nations to help defend Gaza’s remaining medical facilities.
“We also demand that UN observers be sent to these facilities to determine the truth of what is going on,” the group said in a statement on Saturday. Dr Yousef Abu-Al Rish, Gaza’s deputy minister of health, it was allegedly reported that the IDF was questioning approximately 100 medical personnel and alleging that some were subjected to psychological torture.

Doctors have cautioned that the Indonesian hospital is ill-equipped to treat patients, raising concerns about its current condition.
“You can’t call it a hospital, it’s more of a shelter,” remarked by Dr. Abu-Al Rish on Friday.
The WHO also stated that an urgent mission to the Indonesian hospital was being planned in order to transfer patients to southern Gaza for medical treatment.
