Table of Content

A student from Kogi State Polytechnic, Dorcas Omotosho, has sadly lost her life while attempting to terminate a six-month pregnancy.

The tragic incident occured on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at a private place called Al-Hassan Clinic and Maternity. This clinic is located in the Sarkin Noma area of Lokoja Local Government in Kogi State.

The 26-year-old student had visited the clinic to have an abortion for her six-month pregnancy.

Although the procedure was carried out successfully, the medical team was unable to manage the subsequent bleeding, which ultimately resulted in her death due to blood loss.

Reports suggest that a police officer, who was summoned to the clinic, recorded video footage of the deceased before her body was taken to the mortuary at the federal teaching hospital (FTH) in Lokoja.

The owner of the clinic has been arrested and is currently in custody at the state CID in Lokoja as part of the ongoing investigation.

When contacted, the management of Kogi State Polytechnic stated that they were not aware of the incident.

The director of public relations and protocol Uredo Omale said since the school is currently on holiday we are not aware at the moment.
