No Dey Ask Mumu Question

Dennis Ogu

The Parrot visited the human ancestor one cool evening. For a long time she had been wondering why an animal would see another animal and run away.

The whole thing puzzled her; how big animals like cattle, zebra, wildebeest and even horse that has been to different war fronts would run away on sighting lion, tiger, leopard or other big cats in the jungle.

She could forgive goats, sheep, impala, gazelle etc as they are smaller animals and can hardly be match or survive any battle with the big cats.

So, on this day, she visited Man’s ancestor to look into this matter. Having voiced out her concerns to him, she came up with this idea that if those animals that run away can at least remain where they are on sighting those predators, that the predators would not come after them again and nothing would happen to them.

According to her, it is only he that runs away that is pursued; those who stand their ground are never chased about. Lion and his brothers chase after them because they see fear in them when they run away.

And she concluded by asserting, “let me see how lion and his brothers won’t eat grass, grain and other foods that other animals eat!”
And then she asked Ancestor, “what do you think?” Ancestor breathed out heavily, looked at her and asked her to come closer possibly for a secret plan on how to address the situation. On getting closer, Ancestor grabbed her and put her in a cage and warned her to stop disturbing anybody with such unnecessary issues.

And now, as we all know, Parrot doesn’t have siblings, and her parents are long dead. Since the day she was put in the cage, nobody has come to her rescue or even asked about her. And since then she has been complaining to anyone who cares to listen. In fact, it has got to a point now that she can’t stop talking.

Now, some concerned individuals have appealed to all of us to see to it that Parrot regains her freedom, to see if she can stop talking because she has talked too much.
What do you think?
