Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has spoken out strongly against the shocking murder of a young man named Mena Otidi by a police officer, ASP Nuhu Usman. The governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, called this act brutal and a serious violation of human rights.

The governor praised the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Nigeria Police Force for their quick actions, including moving to dismiss and prosecute the officers involved. He mentioned that this swift response shows a commitment to accountability and is essential for rebuilding public trust in law enforcement.

However, Oborevwori insisted that all officers involved in this horrific act, as shown in a widely shared video, must be thoroughly investigated and held accountable. He stressed that justice needs to be served and seen by everyone.

The governor reassured Mena’s grieving family that the state government will fully support them and will keep a close watch on the case until it is resolved to its logical conclusion.

He pledged that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that justice is served and that such tragic incidents are prevented in the future.
The governor urged  residents to remain calm and law-abiding, reiterating his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives,  rule of law, and promotion of a just and humane society.
