Since commencement of campaigns by the parties in contest for the governorship seat of Anambra State by November 8, 2025, the political horizons, firmament and ecosystem are getting clearer, the chaff is being sieved from wheat.
Funny enough many of those who grabbed tickets for grabbing sake are now looking at it as though they mistakingly grabbed a live tick dark black African python, to drop it is now a problem, to tie it on their waste even more deadly, now they are in the middle of nowhere, their parties are even more confused, because they came into the race without plans ab initio.
But the same cannot be said of the Young Progress Party (YPP) Governorship candidate, Dr Sir Paul Chukwuma, a moving razor, who is in Anambra State Governorship race to better the life of his people, a man who has continued to demonstrate the mantra of square peg in a square hole.
A close look at his campaign activities would let you know his visible youthful energy, his speeches are not coated in sophistry even though he is well read, but he always come down to the level of every segment of the society wherever he goes knowing the role of social linguistics and pragmatism in public speaking.
Sir Paul Chukwuma is down to earth, he is the only Governorship candidate truly ready for governance, no wonder he was the first to indicate interest to contest the forthcoming Governorship Election in Anambra, he is the man who provided an imposing edifice as state office for the All Progressives Congress, APC, even though he is no longer a member of the party, a man generous to a fault.
I can tell you for free that Anambarians have come to discover that many of those who picked ticket for the forthcoming election in the state were only banking on support from Abuja rather than selling to the people their manifestos, their political programmes to the would-be electorate, they but they are only going cap in hand to curry favour from the seat of power in Abuja.
This very action has easily indicated where they are coming from, it is an indication that they are neither ready for the election nor willing to play according to the rule of the game.
Of course, it is high time the electorate started noting these trends, to know those who are actually ready for this election, the pretenders and the contenders.
On his part, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has continued to work with the people who are actually those to cast their votes on November 8; he is telling them what he will do if voted as the governor of the state.
Another critical issue to look out for is the current businesses of those coming to rule Anambra State, from what we are seeing, some of the candidates are simply jobless. Yes many of the candidates were able to pay the huge sum demanded by their various parties, yes, but we have discovered that what we are seeing is the voice of Jacob but the hand of Esau.
Many are being sponsored by unseen godfathers, Imagine! And this is a very good warning to Ndi Anambra. Those living in past glory cannot be governor of Anambra State, otherwise somebody somewhere will be remote-controlling the person we called our governor because he contributed virtually nothing in the election.
Some claim they were this and that, what are you now? The current state of your businesses, connections, disposition must be in calculation to determine your capacity both mental and emotional disposition to govern a state as huge and commercially viable as Anambra State.
Sir Paul Chukwuma today runs chains of businesses including his internationally renowned university in Burundi. He is Chancellor in many universities and controls chains of multinational organisations. He is educationally sound and full of administrative acumen.
Sir Paul Chukwuma popularly known as Onwa Umueri has been very ubiquitous in Anambra State reaching out to critical stakeholders, opinion moulders, market women, artisans, the down trodden, etc, making his intention and his capability to govern Anambra known to the people.
Few weeks ago he led the mammoth crowd of Anambrarians on foot through the streets of Awka demanding for the immediate end to insecurity, and flushing out of Aka Odo thugs of the present administration.
He has embarked on empowerment programmes of various dimensions to the youths and the jobless.
He has consistently paid for WAEC and JAMB for candidates whose parents and guardians could not pay for the bills. The less privileged and motherless homes are equally taken care of by this cerebral first class gentleman.
Recently Sir Paul Chukwuma, as he has been doing, was at Anyamelum Local Government Area, the communities were agog. Sir Paul Chukwuma, and his Deputy, Uzu Okagbue, were joined during the campaign at Anyamelum by Hon. Henry Mbachu, the member representing Awka South 1 Constituency, Hon. Bernard Udemezue, the House of Assembly member representing Anyamelum Constituency, Chief John Okigbo, Chief Jude Osude, Chief Ralph Okeke, Mrs. Ifeoma Onwudiwe, and other members of Sir Paul Chukwuma Campaign Team.
In his speech, Hon. Bernard Udemezue assured of his total commitment to ensure that Sir Paul emerges victorious at the polls in November.
Sir Paul Chukwuma, in his remarks, reaffirmed his absolute commitment to restore confidence and give Anambra back to Ndi Anambra through his key focus on human capital, infrastructure development, and security, otherwise called the HIS Agenda.
To also let us know that Sir Paul Chukwuma is a truly moving razor, Hon. Henry Mbachu, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing Awka South constituency 1, left the Labour Party and joined the Young Progressive Party. Hon. Mbachu said that his decision to join the YPP was reached after careful consideration arising from his assessment of the YPP candidate and his manifesto, which he said best expresses his desire for a new Anambra State.
Accordingly, Hon. Mbachu pledged to work assiduously for the YPP and the candidate of the party, Sir Paul Chukwuma, for the November 8, Anambra State Governorship Election.
Speaking on the quality of YPP’s candidate and his confidence in the party and the candidate’s manifesto, Hon. Mbachu said that not only does Paul Chukwuma’s manifesto fit into his own set legislative agenda for his constituents, but also that his candidacy appeals to the youths and has a compelling vision and plan for Anambra State which is comparable to none else. Mbachu also assured his constituents that the YPP is their best option in realizing their collective interest. “I am here this day to declare to you my defection from Labour Party to the YPP. This decision is made on the foundation of a carefully thought-out way for the good people of Awka and Okpuno, with the best interest at heart,” Hon. Henry Mbachu said.
According to Hon. Henry Mbachu, “For the November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election, I am going to work with the candidate who has presented the best manifesto that suits the people of Awka and Okpuno. A candidate who represents the young minds. A candidate who presented an understandable blueprint on how to develop Anambra from consumption to production. A candidate who has shown me that industries can be built across the state, His Excellency, Barrister Paul Chukwuma. He has also assured me that in every facility built by the government, Awka and Okpuno people will have the option of first refusal from level 1 to level 7. This decision is in the best interest of Awka South,” Hon. Mbachu concluded.
During his thank you visit to the Onitsha South, it was a fulfilling time as Sir Paul Chukwuma walked the vibrant streets of Fegge, Modebe, Bida, Ochanja, and beyond, shoulder to shoulder with the indefatigable chairman, Aranazunwa. Together, under the banner of YPP, they reached out with a message of Joy and Renewal.
At every stop; whether at service stations, where Ndi Keke brothers (tricycle operators) received a generous refill for their daily hustle, or in the bustling corners of the suburb, they saw firsthand the energy, the smiles, and the hopeful spirit of the people.
What excited them even more is this undeniable truth: YPP is no longer just a party; it has become a household name in Onitsha South. The message of Joy is already echoing across Anambra, carried in the hearts of the people who yearn for a leadership that truly understands them.
