The Police on Thursday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Munachimso Ohazurike, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Toyota Venza valued at N19.5 million.
Ohazurike was arraigned before Magistrate Lateef A. Owolabi on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and stealing.
The prosecutor, Mrs Josephine Ikhayere, alleged that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences in May at No. 2, Enuma St., Obawole, Lagos.
According to her, Ohazurike fraudulently obtained a 2013 Toyota Venza valued at N19.5 million from Onyekachi Chukwu, under the pretence of selling it to an urgent buyer.
She alleged that the representation was false and that the defendant obtained the vehicle under false pretence before converting it to his personal use.
Ikhayere said the offences contravened Sections 287, 314(1)(9) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Ohazurike pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of N3 million with two reliable sureties and adjourned the case until Dec. 3 for further proceedings.
