All Durbar activities banned in Kano

Police in Kano have prohibited all Durbar festivities for the upcoming 2025 Eid El Fitr celebrations. This decision was announced on Friday by Kano’s Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, who cited security concerns and the need to maintain public order as the reason behind this action.

Bakori underlined the need to create a peaceful and secure environment throughout the celebrations.

According to him, security assessments revealed growing tensions and potential threats associated with the Durbar.

“Following credible intelligence reports of orchestrated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to prohibit all Durbar activities across the state,” CP Bakori stated.

He called on worshippers to comply with security guidelines, including avoiding the carrying of unnecessary objects that could cause suspicion and strict prohibition of horse riding (Kilisa), car racing, and reckless driving.

“As we celebrate, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” he said.
