Nigerian music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has shared his wish to avoid Nigerian politics, labeling the political environment in the country as ‘evil.’
In a recent post on social media, Davido responded to criticism he received for backing his family during the recent Osun State governorship election. He made it clear that his support was a personal choice, free from any outside pressure.
“I didn’t invite anyone! Nobody backed me up! I took care of my family all by myself!” Davido stated. He also directed his comments at his critics, calling their opinions ‘cruel’ and ‘distgusting.’
Furthermore, Davido emphasized that he has done his duty to his family and has no interest in getting involved in politics. “I have fulfilled my responsibilities! Nigerian politics is evil, and I want no part in it until things improve!” he stated.
Throughout the election, the singer was openly supportive of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, who is the current Governor of Osun State.
Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, triumphed in the election by garnering 511,067 votes, surpassing Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.
Following this success, the governor was re-elected for a second term, and Davido joyfully celebrated the win, providing unwavering support to his family amid the political exchanges that unfolded during the election period.
